Xilinx S/W

Note 1: User must consider the following:

  1. Both software applications must be installed in separate directories.
  2. Only one application can be running at a time.
  3. User must set XILINX variable to point to the current application.

Note 2: Foundation ISE 3.1i installer will only install the design entry tools and will use the currently installed Foundation 3.1i (ALDEC) software for Implementation.  Things to note:

  1. To minimize drive space, both software applications can be installed in the same directory.
  2. If installed in the same directory, the user is not required to modify the XILINX variable to point to the current application.
  3. There are two separate copies of FPGA Express installed.
    - Foundation ISE 3.1i: $XILINX\express
    - Foundation 3.1i (ALDEC): $XILINX\synth

Note 3: Foundation ISE 3.1i can not open an Alliance 3.1i Project and Design Manager can not open a Foundation ISE 3.1i Project.

Note 4: Foundation (ALDEC) and Alliance can access a project created by either tool.
